Bio

Hi!  My name is Marla May and I'm the 3rd grade math teacher at Treetops. I have a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Texas.  This is my 5th year at Treetops and my 22nd year to teach.  I am happily married to Mr Frank and we have two grown children, Addison (23 years) and Bryce (18 years).  Two years ago, we adopted precious 3 year old dog, Princess Leia...she's a Lab-mix and I love her so much!  We also have a Yellow Nape Parrot named Pedro...Pedro loves to talk, sing, whistle, dance and act crazy!

My older son, Addison, graduated from Tarleton State University on May 13, 2017 and got married to my wonderful daughter-in-law, Megan, on May 27, 2017.  Addison is a General Manager for a Sonic in Red Oak, TX and Megan is a 2nd grade teacher in Red Oak ISD.  My younger son, Bryce, just graduated from Bethesda Christian School on May 28 and will be living in Victory Hall Dorm attending the University of North Texas in Denton this Fall.  Bryce works part-time at FedEx on the night shift and as a car hop during the day at Sonic in Keller.

I love spending time with my family, walking my dog, attending exercise classes (Zumba and Yoga are my favorites), scrapbooking, watching movies, volunteering at my church (I especially love watching 1 year olds in the nursery), and traveling. I am currently trying to lower my cholesterol level by adhering to a whole foods, plant-based diet (eliminating all animal products...no red meat, chicken, fish, pork, milk, eggs, butter, cheese, etc...).  I've been on and off cholesterol medicine for 7 years and I'm determined not to take it for the rest of my life.  So, please don't tempt me by giving me baked goods, candy, etc...  However, I do still enjoy drinking my unsweetened fresh brewed tea with a splash of sweet tea (even though my son, Bryce, told me I'm going to die of "tea poisoning!"...LOL!)!  :-)
